Dr. Terry Leyba Ruiz is a third-generation Arizonan raised in South Phoenix by her father born in the mining town of Miami, Arizona and her mother born in the farming community of Randolph, Arizona. She attended public schools in the Roosevelt School District and Phoenix Union High School District, and earned degrees from Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University, as a first-generation college student. Dr. Ruiz’ entire career has been focused on ensuring that our students succeed, whether as a math teacher in public middle school, high school, and college, or as President of Glendale Community College. Dr. Ruiz is endorsed by former Superintendent Kathy Hoffman.

State Representative Betty Villegas is a third-generation Tucsonan, and a proud mother of two daughters and two sons. A loving grandmother to six grandchildren, she understands the importance of a safe and prosperous community for future generations. As the Housing Program Manager for Pima County, Villegas was instrumental in expanding housing opportunities and protecting people from predatory lending and foreclosure. As a State Representative, she has filed legislation to protect renters, improve access to clean water, and defend our civil rights and democracy. Villegas is endorsed by Chispa Arizona, LUCHA, Our Voice Our Vote, Sierra Club, Worker Power, and many other organizations.

State Representative Sally Ann Gonzales was raised in the Yaqui community of Guadalupe, Arizona with her ten sisters and brothers. Throughout her adult life, she has been involved in a wide range of civic activities to promote the rights of minority populations, especially Indigenous and Hispanic communities who are the historical and cultural foundation of Arizona. Her career of public service includes teaching, the Pascua Yaqui Tribal Council, community involvement in housing, substance abuse and healthcare, and in the state legislature as a strong proponent for quality education, health care and children’s, women’s, and workers’ rights.

Rocque is a fourth-generation Tucsonan raised by a working-class single mother from Mexico, alongside his little brother, Carlos. He was shaped by public schools and the lived reality of families who are doing everything they can to get by. Rocque studied at the University of Arizona and went on to work there, before ASU, and eventually leading academic and civic empowerment programs through joint investment by the City and County. In 2025, he was unanimously appointed to the Tucson City Council, becoming the youngest official in city or county government in Arizona. He lives in Barrio Santa Rosa and can often be found in neighborhood coffee shops across Tucson. Rocque is endorsed by AFSCME, CWA, Sierra Club, and many other organizations.

Miranda Lopez graduated from the University of Arizona in 2018 and began working in grassroots organizing with the statewide Democratic coordinated campaign. By 2021, Miranda was Executive Director of the Pima County Democratic Party, where she focused on building local party and data infrastructure, supporting candidates, and strengthening community engagement across Southern Arizona. Miranda has worked with the Arizona Students’ Association and United Campus Workers, and graduated with a Masters in Public Administration in May of 2025. She is running to reinvest in public education, protect our water, land and air, and make housing affordable. Miranda is endorsed by CWA, DSA, Working Families Party, and more organizations.

As Executive Director of Montlure Presbyterian Church Camp, Stephanie served children from across Arizona. She spent years supporting the Tucson Unified School Districts, including substitute teaching and coaching, and serving on TUSD’s Family Life Curriculum Committee, reviewing curriculum to ensure it was inclusive and relevant to the well-being of all students. After the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022, and the Arizona Supreme Court’s ruling that reinstated the 1864 anti-abortion law, Stephanie was ready with HB2677 to repeal that archaic legislation.
