Incumbent Republican Senator Mark Peake is facing a challenge from Democrat Donna StClair in the general election for Virginia’s new 8th State Senate district. Senator Peake has served in the State Senate since 2017. During the 2023 General Assembly, he supported three abortion ban bills in the Health Subcommittee. He also supported a bill that would extend concealed handgun permits validity from five years to ten years. Donna StClair does not expressly support abortion, and there is limited information on her stance on several issues. Because of this, there is no recommendation in this race.
