Esther Nizer is the Democratic candidate for HD 34. She is from Elkton, Virginia, and she is a very active member of her church as its Finance Clerk. In 2003, she received her Master’s of Science in Education. She has since been an advocate for the Elkton community, which includes working with the Elkton Cemetery Commission, Elkton Area United Services (EAUS), and Elkton Downtown Revitalization Corporation (EDRC) Boards. Currently, she serves on the Commonwealth’s Department of Conservation and Recreation Board, the Elkton Progressive Improvement Committee (EPIC), and the Elkton Lions Club.

Nizer is challenging incumbent Republican Delegate Tony Wilt. Delegate Wilt has served in the House of Delegates since 2010. He consistently votes in favor of bills that aim to create barriers to abortion access. He also voted in favor of repealing extreme risk protection laws, which are a form of common sense gun prevention. Additionally, he voted against repealing the ban on same-sex marriage in the Virginia State Constitution.

While Esther Nizer is endorsed by several progressive legislators and organizations, we could not find enough information on her stances to make a recommendation in this race.
